Riding for Christ

After leaving prison, 'Midget' become part of a motorcycle ministry promoting Jesus!

Someone took the time to visit George 'Midget' Whirley's prison cell more than 10 years ago.
Before then, Whirley spent 20 years of his life in and out of trouble and jail cells. But during that visit with Jim Garmany, a member of Unchained Ministries, Whirley turned his life around.
Today, Whirley, 41 is a dedicated member of Unchained Ministries.
Whirley also volunteers as a chaplain at the Johnson County jail. He visits people at the work release center.
During bike rallies, Whirley and other members of Unchained Ministries and the Unchained Motorcycle Club give away Bibles and the news of Jesus Christ.
For 11 years, Whirley dragged a 10-foot-tall wooden cross from one side of the campground to the other during the Bean Blossom Boogie, a huge July gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts set in Brown County.
" The first couple of years, it was offensive to them," Whirley says of his commitment to drag the large cross through crowds of partying bikers. "But after that, they seemed to respect me. I carry that cross around to represent Christ."
Carl Beadle of Linton, In youth minister and founder of the Unchained Ministries, and many other members of this 15 - year old ministry are known for reaching out to bikers.
" Someone took their time for me when I was locked up." Whirley says.
With a lone earring sparking from his earlobe and a log, neat braid of hair down his back, Whirley wear much of his story on his weathered, black leather jacket.
